The team were called after a walker sustained a serious lower leg injury and was unable to continue on Aran Fawddwy. The initial report came from a passer-by who had to climb some distance to obtain a mobile signal and raise the alarm. Due to poor communications and the remote location, team members were deployed from multiple directions, with assistance requested from South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team. Following an assessment, it was determined that a helicopter evacuation offered the safest and quickest option given the terrain.
The casualty was moved a short distance to a suitable landing area before being airlifted by Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and transferred to Ysbyty Gwynedd for further treatment.
