At 1:16pm, an 82-year-old walker suffered head and leg injuries after a fall near Bwlch Cyfrwy on Cadair Idris. Members of his group provided initial first aid, but severe pain in his leg and hip left him unable to continue.
Due to the casualty’s age, reported injuries and remote location, assistance was requested from the Coastguard helicopter. Mountain Rescue team members deployed from Ty Nant, with helicopter support used to access and assess the casualty.
Following assessment, the casualty was airlifted from the hill and returned to Ty Nant, where he was able to walk with assistance and continue to hospital for further assessment with friends.
