On Saturday afternoon, Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team was alerted to reports of an injured paraglider in the Llyn y Fign area. Given the remote location, nature of the injuries and the onset of darkness, assistance from a HM Coastguard rescue helicopter was requested at an early stage.
Team members deployed towards the scene while the helicopter responded from St Athan. Working together, the agencies were able to ensure the casualty received prompt assistance, with the casualty and their companion subsequently airlifted directly to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.
This callout highlights the importance of effective inter-agency cooperation in achieving the best outcome for casualties in remote mountain environments.
We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
