At 4:25pm on Monday 17 August, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was called following concerns for two 16-year-old walkers who had become overdue on Cadair Idris.
A search response was initiated, with team members deployed to likely descent routes while checks were made on alternative exits from the mountain. Information later revealed that the pair had been camping and had left their equipment behind while making their way to the summit. After becoming lost, their phone batteries were exhausted, making communication extremely difficult.
Fortunately, team members located the walkers at the bottom of the stone chute and escorted them safely off the mountain. No medical treatment was required, and the incident concluded safely.
