At 12:18pm on Wednesday 26 August, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was called to assist a female walker who had sustained an ankle injury in the Llyn Cau area of Cadair Idris.

Accurate location information provided by the casualty and supporting technology enabled team members to quickly identify her position on the mountain. Due to the nature of the injury and the likelihood of a stretcher evacuation, assistance was requested from South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team.

After reaching the casualty, team members assessed and treated the injury before applying a vacuum splint to immobilise the ankle. A combined stretcher party from both teams then carried the casualty from the mountainside to Minffordd Car Park.

Following a final assessment, the casualty was provided with pain relief, advised to seek further medical attention and discharged into the care of family members.
