At 5:10pm on Saturday 26 September, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was called to assist a walker on Cader Idris who had become unable to continue after suffering severe leg cramps while descending the mountain. Poor mobile phone coverage made communication difficult, and early reports suggested a stretcher evacuation might be necessary.

A hasty party was deployed to assess the casualty while additional rescuers carried stretcher and medical equipment onto the mountain. Given the likelihood of a prolonged evacuation, assistance was requested from South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team.

Fortunately, after assessment and treatment, the casualty was able to make slow but steady progress downhill with support from team members. Using specialist equipment to assist on the steep and loose terrain, the casualty was safely escorted back to the car park without the need for a stretcher evacuation.
