Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Team call-handlers received reports of what was believed to be a flare on the hills to the south of Fairbourne. Two local volunteers were dispatched to investigate but could not find any evidence of persons in distress. Given that it was the Jubilee Bank holiday, with associated celebrations, and that the area in question had reasonable mobile phone coverage, it was deemed to be a false alarm with good intent.
