With limited information due to poor mobile phone signal, and repeated attempts to contact the caller unsuccessful team members were deployed onto the mountain and support was requested from a rescue helicopter. Teams searched the summit area and surrounding paths whilst trying to establish contact with those involved.
It was later established that the original caller had been concerned for another group on the mountain and had raised the alarm on their behalf. Fortunately, the party initially believed to be in difficulty had already descended safely and returned to their accommodation, allowing the incident to be stood down.
