At 4:45pm on Thursday 10 September, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was called to assist with an unusual rescue after a sheep became trapped in a disused slate quarry near Dinas Mawddwy.
Initial information suggested that specialist rope rescue techniques might be required, and team members attended to assess the situation and plan the safest method of recovery.
Fortunately, a detailed assessment of the site revealed a relatively straightforward access route into the quarry. After negotiating a short vertical section using handlines, team members were able to reach the sheep, safely recover it and release it without injury.
