With winds gusting up to 70 mph, team members ventured out into the storm to rescue two young walkers who were stranded in the summit shelter. The walkers had asked ChatGPT about what to take up a mountain and were relatively well equipped and using a foil blanket. However they had also used ChatGPT to check the weather and it had not appropriately prepared them to be out in a named storm. They once again asked ChatGPT what to do while in the summit shelter, and called us for help. Team members reached the hikers just before 10 PM, bringing hot drinks and warm clothing to help them cope with the harsh conditions. Despite the wild weather, they safely guided everyone down by half past midnight.
